16 February – MBS Alumni Toastmaster Club – Blossoming
Happy New Year! We wish every Toastmaster good luck, good health and good cheer in the Year of Tiger.
We were so blessed to kick off our meeting today by giving & receiving BLOSSOMING good fortune & blessings to each other. These heartfelt wishes give warmth and connection, more valuable than red packet money.
We had an unusual Table Topics with the theme of The Four Gentlemen (四君子), also called the Four Noble Ones, in Chinese art, referring to: the plum (梅), the orchid (蘭), the bamboo (竹), and the chrysanthemum (菊). This challenged our impromptu speaking ability and our knowledge of art and literature.
To ace our BLOSSOMING public speaking skills, Nicole Shackleton reminds us that, it is important to:
(1) know your audience
(2) prepare and practice
(3) own the stage
(4) be confident
(5) enjoy your speech.

Come join our next regular meeting on campus, 2 Mar 2022 (Wed) at 7.30pm
